Committee Bulletin - February 2018
LONDON MARATHON BAG HANDLERS
If you fancy helping out at the World’s Biggest Marathon, TAC is looking for a team of 14 volunteers to help as baggage handlers at this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April.
Our job as a team is to sort and return approximately 2500 competitor bags. There is a great atmosphere with plenty of celebrity spotting and it’s a fantastic opportunity to be an important part of this unique event – a great addition to your CV! Free transport is provided with the minibus leaving from Tonbridge Station at around 8am and returning by 7.30pm.
Free lunches are provided. You will also receive a commemorative medal or pin, a London Marathon “staff” jacket and a small financial ‘thank-you’ of £20
TAC has a long history of being part of this prestigious event thanks to Iain Presnell and there is a core team of experienced volunteers, so don’t worry if you are new – there are plenty of old-hands to show you the ropes.
Although the regulars will be given first refusal, there are always a few places up for grabs on a first come – first serve basis. If you would like to be part of the Team, please call Julie Thomson on 01732 457137 or 0793 031 0099 or (email )
If you don’t fancy being a bag handler, how about being a sandwich maker or sand raker? TAC need volunteers for these roles for our Open Meetings which start on Easter Monday. These are just examples; we have a wide range of roles and would welcome new faces to help our experienced volunteers.
Please email or talk to one of the coaches.
Let me know by 22nd February if you are interested in entering this marathon. England Athletics registered athletes can now apply for a guaranteed entry into the 2018 Brighton Marathon through the club. If you are interested in entering the Brighton Marathon, please email .
Requests to enter are only accepted from Club Secretaries.
