Richardson Takes the Win on Boxing Day
The annual Boxing Day handicap race was again held at Tonbridge School and had around a hundred competitors. The event was held over five kilometres, with the first runners going off around eight minutes ahead of the final starters.
Steve Keywood the event organiser, had been studying form through the cross country season and was pleased with what turned out to be a close contest.
Lottie Richardson held on for the overall victory, running 19.10 with a 3 minutes and 40 seconds handicap. At the finish she was just one second ahead of Fraser Gordon, who ran 15.31, with a 7.20 handicap. Then in third place was Robbie Farnham-Rose, who had started with an eight-minute handicap, but ran the fastest outright time of 14.57.
Second fastest overall was Jamie Bryant with 14.59, with Dominic Brown at 15.01, whilst the fastest three females were Nicole Taylor with 16.34, Sian Robertson 18.11 and Chloe Bird 19.02.

Also rounding off the year in fine style was Henry Pearce, who finished fourth in the Ribble Valley 10k road race, near Blackburn, on Sunday. Pearce was having his first race since the Toronto Marathon in October and produced a new personal best of 29.26. This took seven seconds from his previous best and ranks him eighteenth on the end of year UK rankings.
