West and Brown in England Track Team
James West and Dominic Brown have both been selected for the England team, which travels to Vienna, Austria this coming weekend. They will both race over 1500 metres indoors and their selections come after their winning runs at the trial races earlier in January. It will be Brown’s first senior international, having represented the England under 20 team previously at cross country. James West will be following up his recent GB appearance, with what is also his first senior England vest.
On Sunday, Donald Carter became the latest of the Tonbridge senior men’s distance runners to hit his best form, when he placed third in the British Cross Challenge event, at Cardiff. Carter is back in full training, following injury last Summer and could be a significant addition to the strong Tonbridge team for next month’s National Championships. Lucy Reid finished 22nd in the top class women’s race at Cardiff.
On Saturday the Kent Schools Championships took place at The Duke of Yorks School, Dover, with eight age group events being run. There were more than a hundred Tonbridge AC members amongst the starters and three of them recorded individual wins.
Alasdair Kinloch and Phoebe Barker took the senior titles, for school years 12 and 13.
Fraser Gordon was a popular winner of the Junior Boys event, for years 8 and 9.
Katie Goodge and Maddie Wise were 2nd and 3rd, respectively in the Junior Girls race.
Simon Coppard was 3rd in the Inter Boys event and Jamie Goodge 3rd in the Senior Boys’ race.
