18th October: Kent League Cross Country

A good turnout of TAC masters at Nonington for the first Kent League Cross country of the season. News from this event plus details of future cross country fixtures are included in this update, together with information about Officials training courses.

13th October: Tonbridge Parkrun and Half Marathon

Maria Heslop was in a class of her own in the in the Tonbridge Half Marathon, and the Women were second team with Antonia Skerritt and Eva Kolivoskova-Martin. 4th October: SCVAC Area Finals

TAC Men’s and Women’s teams took their place amongst the strongest Vets clubs from the South East area, all of whom had won their leagues during the summer. The women finished in 2nd behind Epsom and Ewell, whilst the men finished in 3rd behind Oxford City. Click here to read the update

26th September: SCVAC Finals

The finals are this weekend and we will receive the league trophies during the lunch break at about 1pm so please can as many people as possible be there. News is also included from the SEAA road relays, the Hospice in the Weald 10k and the Kent Vets T&F Champs. Click here to read the update

20th September: Cross Country Season Opener

TAC masters competed in the Blackheath and Bromley Relays which form the traditional cross country season opener with a number of younger athletes competing alongside the vets. TAC also came away with medals from the Kent T&F Championships and the Larkfield 10K. Click here to read the update

11th September: Masters World Championships

Ian Crawley competed at the World Championships in Malaga, achieving a PB and TAC record in the M55 decathlon whilst Sue James gained a gold team medal for GB in the 8K cross country This week's update also includes news of the Great North Run and Larkfield 10K fixtures. 3rd September: BMAF Championships

Steve Tester took gold in the 400m with a time of 52.62, Lisa Knight took silver with a PB of 67.61 and newcomer Robert MacKenzie took gold in the M80 100m in his first race, going straight to 3rd place in the UK age group rankings.

2nd August: Bedgebury Evening Series 10K and 5K

Ladies Team win in the 10k led home by Penny Pilbeam 47.29 who was 3rd Female and 1st W45. This update also includes news from the Southern Athletics League, Dinosaur Deal 10k and the Hercules Wimbledon 3K. Details on selected future fixtures are also included. Click here to read the update

22nd July: Crawley is M55 Decathlon Champion

Ian Crawley competed at the British Masters Decathlon championships where he won the M55 category to be Decathlon Champion. In the SCVAC the Div 1 Women needed to produce their best to maintain their 1 point lead over Dartford.

5th July: SCVAC League Dartford

Congratulations to the Men’s team on winning the Division one title for the first time.  A fantastic unbeaten performance so far. Agonisingly, the Women were 1.5 points behind Dartford on the night, but still lead the league by a single point.

7th June: TAC Development meeting

It was good to see a number of Masters' athletes taking the opportunity to put themselves under competition pressure on Tuesday evening. Sarah Westrap came away with a new W40 record of 1.80m for pole vault in only her second competitive outing.

28th May: SCVAC League

Another strong performance by the men to win by a decent margin, with Dartford finishing 4th to leave us 2.5 points clear of Bexley at the top. A bit closer for the Women who tied with rivals Dartford for the Div 1 win, both on an impressive 80 points. Click here to read the update from this and other events

24th May: Beckenham Road Relays

This is a relaxed but as ever competitive midweek event. We had a number of vets running, with a team of M40 that finished 16th overall and a victory for the Men’s A team. News also from European Non Stadia Vets Champs.

17th May: SCVAC Vets League

After a delayed start due to the cancellation of Sutcliffe Park summer arrived and we got off to a flying start at Ashford with wins for all 3 teams. 9th May: Representing England Masters

Maria Heslop W50, Tina Oldershaw W50 and Andy Howey M55 (TAC Coach and 2nd Claim) were all selected to run for an England Masters team against a Celtic nations team at the Great Birmingham 10k.

3rd May: BMAF National Road Relays

This is always one of the best attended races of the Masters’ calendar and this year the race had been moved from Mid May to late April to avoid clashing with the European Masters’ non-stadia event in Spain, but overall team entries were down by only 15. Click here to read a report from the event

26th April: London Marathon

Maria Heslop again led the way as she was first W50 lady in the London Marathon in a time of 2:56.56.   She was 18th non-elite woman and 8 minutes ahead of the next W50,  she was also second vet overall with only one W40 ahead of her. This is a TAC women’s record and a PB by 1 second! Click here to read the update

10th April: Folkestone, Paddock Wood, Knole, Tonbridge....

Records were broken by TAC athletes at the Paddock Wood Half Marathon and in the Easter Open Meeting, whilst Maria Heslop ran the 3rd fastest time by a British W50 ever in Folkestone. Others competed in the Knole 10K at the weekend where Tina Oldershaw won the Ladies race. Click here to read the update

22nd March: Masters in Hastings and Madrid

Maria Heslop dominated the women’s race as she was first lady overall and of course first veteran, whilst Alan Newman, Sue James, Ian Crawley and Ben Reynolds have all been in Madrid this week.

Sue has enjoyed competing in European and World Masters Championships and always supports the British Masters Championships at track, road and XC events. She has competed for England in the British and Irish Masters International XC and hopes to continue for a very long time to come. Click here to read the feature

1st March: British Masters Indoor Championships

Three athletes took part in the BMAF Indoor champs at Lee Valley on Sunday, two of whom left with Gold Medals as British Age group champions. We also had a good number of Masters athletes running in the National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill. Click here to read the update

23rd February: SCVAC Indoors and Half Marathon Success

Medals for Sally Vine and Diane Wright at the SCVAC Indoor champs at Lee Valley, plus a number of TAC vets contributed to the 3 to score team wins at the Tunbridge Wells Half marathon and Kent GP team wins for 6 to score.

14th February: Kent League Sparrows Den

The final Kent League XC race of the season took part last Saturday. Antony Bennett and Simon Fraser helped TAC to win the 12 to score title. Maria Heslop secured the overall title with her 4th place, while also collecting the W45 title and leading veterans title. Click here to read the update

11th February: Masters Feature - Alan Newman

Alan is one of the latest recruits to the TAC Masters team having transferred from Paddock Wood AC in September 2017. As well as being a keen M60 competitor, Alan is a qualified Coach and will be supporting the developing Masters section.

8th February: Chichester 10k

Maria Heslop led the Tonbridge W50 trio, with Tina Oldershaw and Lucy Pitcairn-Knowles to Women's team 2nd place. Maria broke the TAC W50 record finishing in 36:38. There were other great performances at the Ashford and District 10K and The Bedgebury Forest 5 Mile. Click here for the latest update

25th January: Canterbury 10 Mile

A good number of TAC athletes competed in the first race of the Kent Road running Grand Prix at Canterbury. Tina Oldershaw was 2nd lady overall and first W45-54, Julian Rendall was first M40-49 and 2nd scorer for the winning TAC senior men's team, and Graeme Saker was 2nd in the M50-59. 11th January: Brands Hatch Kent County Championships

We had an amazing 23 Vets athletes taking part at the Kent County Championships . I think the standout results are first place in the M50 and W50 for Ben Reynolds and Maria Heslop. Both of whom helped secure the Men's and Women's team titles for the 6 and 3 to score team events. Click here for the latest update

4th January: Plenty of Success Over the Christmas Period

Tina Oldershaw won the Staplehurst 10 Mile race on New Year's Eve, whilst on New Year's Day Julian Rendall M40 was 2nd and Antonia Skerritt was first Lady home. In the Lamberhurst 10K and 5K Sasha Houghton won the Ladies race, with the Men gaining the team win. Click here for the latest update

14th December: South of England Masters XC Championships

A large contingent of TAC Vets travelled to the SEAA Masters XC championships at Horspath, Oxfordshire. The course was a mix of frosted hard ground and some mud, with a mix of flat fields, sharp hills and woodland paths.

7th December: Kent Masters Cross Country Championships

The Kent Masters XC Championships returned to the intricate Central Park course at Dartford on Saturday 2 December, with improved results for TAC Masters with news from the Crowborough 10k plus an update on the South of England Vets XC Championships Saturday 9th December at Horspath. 30th November: Kent League Danson Park

The Ladies Vets were critical to the team score in both the 3 and 6 to score Senior Ladies team that was 3rd in both categories at Danson Park. Upcoming Masters' events include the Kent Vets Champs, Dartford Central Park, plus some news from warm weather training and racing in Cyprus. Click here for the update

24th November: Britain and Ireland Home International

Ben Reynolds and Graeme Saker M55 were in action in Derry having been selected for the British and Ireland Home International last weekend. Ben won the M50 and over race by 8 seconds from his fellow English team mates and Graeme was part of the 3 man AG winning English team. Click here for the update

16th November: Kent Cross Country League

Details of the updated Masters results following the third race in the Kent Cross Country League 2016-17 held at Footscray Meadows and good luck to Graeme Saker and Ben Reynolds as they race in the Home international for England in Derry on Saturday 18th November. Click here for the update

19th October: Kent Cross Country League – Masters Results/Standings

Saturday saw the start of the 2017/18 Kent XC league. There were 24 TAC vets taking part, with debuts for Richard Tosh, Ross Kinloch, Lisa Knight and Susie Jeddo. 12th October: Givaudan Ashford 10k and National Road Relays

Two Kent titles and a superb PB by over two minutes at the Givaudan Ashford 10K, with updates from the Bournemouth Marathon, Petts Wood 10K and the National Road Relays plus news of Graeme Saker's M55 England Selection.

5th October: Tonbridge Half Marathon

Julian Rendall (M40) battled with Dan Bradley before making his move at about 4.5 miles to win the race.  Maria Heslop dominated the Ladies race as she won by over 3 minutes from former TAC runner Nicola Wilkinson.

21st September: Winter Training, Results and Future Fixtures

Ben Reynolds and Dan Madams took part in the VAC 10,000m track championships winning their respective age groups whilst Phil Coleman won Gold at the Kent Vets Track Championships in Erith. 14th September: Eridge 10 Mile

Julian Rendall followed his strong showing on the track at the finals the week before (1500m and 3K) as he showed his adaptability to be second at Eridge and first M40 over what I believe is a true cross country course.

The finals weekend has arrived! Journey from Div 2 novices to area final in 16 months!! We have good teams and hopefully we can equip ourselves well and see where we stand in relation to the top Veteran teams from the South East.

14th August: European Masters Championships, Denmark

The 20th European Masters Athletics Championships Stadia were held in Aarhus, Denmark from 27th July to 6th August, 2017. Alan Newman and Sue James will join the Club next month and their results and also results from Ben Reynolds are included together with a fixtures update. Click here for the update

20th July: SCVAC Vets League - Medway Park

There was definitely a relaxed feel to the TAC team on Monday night in the final fixture at Medway having qualified for the finals. One of the highlights of the evening was to see 9 TAC runners in the non-scoring Mens 800m race.

9th July: SCVAC Vets League - Bexley

So, the ladies are definitely going to Ashford South East finals day after a brilliant team win on Friday night, it just shows what hard work was going on in the field events!  We are now 8 points clear of 3rd placed Cambridge with a maximum of 6 available at Medway. Click here for the update

22nd June: SCVAC Vets League - Dartford

Another great result where our strength in depth and adaptability shone through to achieve 2nd place in both the women’s and men’s divisions.   Apart from some winning performances on the night there were some crucial points gained throughout the Mens and Women’s teams. Click here for the report

14th June: Staplehurst 10k

A good team effort to take 1st Team at Staplehurst with Dan Bradley out in front - Tony paced the race best as he was 4th of this group at 5Km, before moving through during the second half of the race to finish 2nd TAC and with a PB of 38.38. 6th June: Tonbridge SCVAC Vets League Meeting

It was great to see such a good atmosphere on Friday night at the Vets league and the athletes clearly benefited from the support as results on the track, where vocal encouragement was much in evidence, were consistently good

24th May: British Masters Road Relay Championships

We had by far and away our most successful day at the British Masters Road relay championships, held in Sutton Coldfield. We had 5 teams in 4 age categories and despite the weather it proved to be an enjoyable day for teams and supporters.

18th May: 2nd SCVAC Vets League Match at Ashford

The Men were second on the night and are now second overall. The ladies trumped this with a first win in Division 1 for TAC, this also puts them second overall in what looks like being a very tight top three. A good many records were broken on the night too. Click here for the full report

11th May: New TAC M55 3K record

Graeme Saker ran 10:01.21 at Watford to record a M55 club record which puts him fourth in the Overall National rankings for 2017, and first in the Outdoor rankings for M55. Other records for Anne Brenchley in the Bedgebury Parkrun and Discus for Mark Davies. Click here a short update

1st May: League Opening Fixture, Hildenborough and TAC open

It was great to see both the Men and Women perform so well to be 2nd equal and 3rd respectively on the night, and a fantastic turn out of TAC runners of all ages at Hildenborough on Monday. An update from the TAC open is also included.

27th April: London Marathon

Outstanding runs by TAC masters last Sunday. Leading the way was Julian Rendall M35 who could be seen starting just behind the elites as he set off to run 2:36.35, followed by Steve Keywood (3:06.05) and James Winnifrith (3:07.57) and others...

There were some record breaking performances from Simon Fraser and Brian Buckwell at the TAC open meeting on Monday, following strong performances by Maria Heslop and Sasha Houghton at Stevenage over the weekend.

13th April: Medals for TAC at the British Masters

Lucy Pitcairn-Knowles secured the W50 title, and with Sasha Houghton and Nina Ridge took gold W35-44 age group. Phil Coleman, Mark Pitcairn-Knowles and John Ridge took gold in the M45-54, with other medals for individuals as SCVAC Champs.

23rd February: Alan Buckle Claims AG Park Run Record

An excellent performance from Alan in Greenpoint Park, Cape Town and good results from a number of TAC Masters in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon plus a medal for Mark McAllister in the SCVAC Indoor Championships. Click here for an update on the event plus future events

18th February: Kent League Round Up

Frank Czarnowski came 15th overall in the M50 category. Pride of place goes to Graeme Saker who finished top of the tree in the M50, but also top veteran in the league M40 and up. Click here for a round up plus key fixtures
 

28th January: Southern Cross Country Championships

Steve Keywood, M55 TAC stalwart, produced an impressive comeback at Parliament Hill whilst Sasha Houghton was 3rd scorer in the Senior Ladies team finishing in their highest position ever. Click here for an update on the event plus key fixtures
 

8th January: Kent Championships

In the Kent Champs Sasha Houghton had one of her best Cross Country races and helped secure the 3 to score Silver medal for TAC whilst in the Mens event TAC won the 6 and 12 to score.

17th December: South of Thames XC Championships

The Ladies put in a solid display in Beckenham whilst Julian Rendall in 14th was 2nd scorer for the TAC mens team that was 2nd on the day.

10th December: South of England Masters XC Champs

We had six entries for the M50, 5 travelled and 4 raced, such is the nature of vets athletics! 10k race, 2 laps of a course with varied surfaces underfoot, the organisers had changed it from two years ago removing the killer hill.  Click here to find out the results.

3rd December: Kent Vets XC Championships Report
