Tonbridge AC Masters/Vets Runners

Men and Women over 35

Tonbridge AC encourages all members to "Race" for the Club and the Masters Section gives the opportunity for those over 35 to be competitive and score for a team in races. Depending on the particular event, age groups are in 5 year or 10 year blocks. We are the only people in the Club who are happy to have birthdays at 50, 55, 60, 65 etc!!!!

We race on the Road, Cross Country and compete in Track and Field.

We welcome all abilities and will adapt sessions to meet needs. Training is aimed at increasing speed and endurance, so will suit those wanting to reduce their times. A competitive nature helps!

We have a growing Vets group run by Alan Newman (Level 3 endurance Coach) who is a prolific Masters (M60) competitor attending events around the world. The group is aimed at runners hoping to break 25 mins for a 5km distance. This suits those running up to 28 mins, but wanting to go faster. You will need attend training on a regular basis to achieve these goals. Once you have achieved this you will be able to merge with other training groups at Tonbridge AC. Faster runners can train with either the Senior athletes or the U17 age group. Parents wanting to assist with the groups where their children are involved are most welcome as well, the Club is keen to send parents on Assistant Coaching courses to assist with the logistics of these groups.

Both our Men's and Women's Veterans Track and Field teams are in Div 1 of the SCVAC Kent Vets T&F league (6 meetings) which take place on Monday and Friday nights from April to July, we will welcome new members for this team.  Both Men and Women finished 2nd in Division 1 this year, which qualified us for the area final for teams in the South East (London, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Surrey ) where they both finished 3rd out of 7.  We will be holding some more Field event sessions in early Spring 2018 as we hope to strengthen our teams.

One of the features of TAC is the integrated training with youngsters and Masters together.  At first this may feel a little intimidating, however it is great for speed work and race days become very special when the famous multi-generation TAC support lifts you round the course.
