Masters Update - 18th February 2017
Kent League Round Up
The final Kent League XC was held on Saturday 11th February at Footscray.
There were a number of Tonbridge Vets taking part. Importantly for Frank Czarnowski (134th) he completed his 4th of 4 to come 15th overall in the M50 category. Pride of place goes to Graeme Saker who finished top of the tree in the M50, but also top veteran in the league M40 and up. He ran a very solid 19th place on the day. England Selectors are you taking notice?!!!!
Others to contribute to the 12 to score team that won on the day (and took the title) were Simon Fraser 23rd, Adam styles 30th, Steve Keywood 53rd and Mark Pk 68th. Daniel Crush had plenty of “leg spin” as he ran in road shoes (98th), Brain Buckwell (102nd) just ahead of Cain Bradley (103rd) who had traded places with Duncan Ralph (106th).
Maria Heslop (3rd on the day) who will become 1st claim Tonbridge on the 1st March confirmed her class by winning both the Overall Senior Ladies title, Veteran Ladies Title as well as the team title with Paddock Wood. Maria has been suffering from a cough recently so was pleased to complete the series.
Lucy PK was 8th in the final league standings as first Tonbridge Vet (4th W45), with Nina Ridge closely behind in 10th. Nina was delighted to have completed all the races after injury in 15/16 and is clearly getting faster with every race. The same is true for Rachael Fagg who was 13th overall. Along with sasha Houghton, Tracey Horne and Claire Brown they have all contributed to the clubs 3rd place in 3 to score and 2nd in the 6 to score league finishes.

As promised, here are my results for today (good or bad as I said). Unfortunately no medal and no club records or PB's today.
I finished 4th out of an initial entrance field of 9 which was the largest number for any male or female age group but 7 started the day. I was outclassed by superior all round athletes who thoroughly deserved their medals.
My results were as follows: 60MH 10.57 sec, LJ 4.24m, SP(6KG) 8.04m, HJ 1.32m and 1000m 3:33.88 sec. with a total score of 2530 points.
Mark took part in the 60m sprint.
“Second in my heat but 4th overall 8.10s so a lot to improve on, I know I can run faster than this!”
See video of his heat in the facebook group.
Sprint training continues and it has been very encouraging to see the numbers of vets out in all weathers. With the feeling of Spring it should become more pleasant.
