Masters Update - 28th January 2017

Southern Cross Country Championships

Leading masters performances at the Southerns were Sasha Houghton and Steve Keywood.

Steve Keywood M55 TAC stalwart, produced an impressive comeback. Following last year’s slog in the deep mud around Parliament Hill, Steve ended up having more surgery on both knees over the following months and being told that he should stop running. He has had a few other niggles during the year but despite all this made it to Parliament Hill to start this year!

625 1:06:50 5515 S Keywood TONBRIDGE AC - Two and a half minutes faster than last year! (it was relatively dry this year)

Others to compete on the day were Adam Styles (I still have your Kent Vets medal!) Tobin Bird, Duncan Ralph.

Sasha was 3rd scorer in the Senior Ladies team, that finished in their highest position ever. She was 120th / 574. Lucy P-K was the 4th scorer in the team, just ahead of Rachael Fagg.

120 0:35:34 3830 S Houghton TONBRIDGE AC
247 0:38:49 3832 L Pitcairn-Knowles TONBRIDGE AC
293 0:40:05 3827 R Fagg TONBRIDGE AC

Recent Park Run results

Alan Buckle was a recent leader on Age Grading at Tonbridge Park Run.

There were a number of good performances recently at Tonbridge Park Run although the course was apparently shortened by 150-200m due to the conditions. Never the less Nina Ridge followed up last weeks run with another similar time and Antony Bickley ran considerably quicker to finish in 7th place.

BMAF 10 km Road Championships 9th April

The Tollgate Watling Street Gravesend Kent DA11 7NP

I understand that this will be taking place at the Cyclopark, 4 laps. It will incorporate the SCVAC champs as well, for those that are members.

Difficult weeks with the weather conditions. It has been good to see a few training on a regular basis, but not so good to see Stuart Meldon unfortunately pull his other hamstring!!
