Masters Update - 8th January 2017

Kent Championships

Congratulations to Sasha Houghton who had one of her best Cross Country races in the Kent Champs to help secure the 3 to score Silver medal for TAC, as she came 15th Overall and 9th Vet over 35. She was helped by Tracey Horne 38th, Rachel Fagg 57th and Clare Brown 86th to 4th place in the 6 to score team event, only a narrow 6 points off bonze medal.

TAC won the 6 and 12 to score. Ben Reynolds continues to be well up in the scoring team, 8th scorer, 20th overall. Julian Rendall was pleased to get a run in after a couple of weeks of sickness and still manged to be 11th scorer and 25th overall. Other vets in action were Andrew Mercer (31st and not in 12 to score!!) , Graeme Saker 46th , Simon Fraser 47th Adam Styles 60th , Tobin Bird 134th , Duncan Ralph 173rd and Frank Cznarnowski 208th. Iain Crawley was on his way but broke down (of the car type) in Maidstone.

Sprint Group

This part of the summer league team appears to be strengthening and it was very encouraging to see so many out this morning. Video Clips at

The times for the Ladies were competitive with the league results from last year and this was only the first proper session! Sessions at 6.30pm Tuesday and Thursday, Sunday mornings 11am, however keep an eye on the facebook page as it can be earlier, which may well suit those with children in Tornados.

It was also encouraging to have a specific group (middle distance) within Pete Mason’s training group on Thursday evening, for Fartlek around Denbeigh Drive. I bumped into Penny Pilbeam who had just had her first 5k run after reaching her 6 week clearance post the birth of Oscar, clearly itching to get back in the running groove!!!

National Vets XC Champs Liverpool 18th March
