Masters Update - 17th December 2016
South of Thames XC Championships
Once again the Ladies Masters put in a solid display at the South of Thames XC race in Beckenham. Sasha Houghton, Rachael Fagg and Nina Ridge were all running significantly further that recent races (5K) as they took on the 7.5 mile course. Sasha was 29th , Rachael 53rd and Nina 54th. Unfortunately the team was incomplete on the day. Second Claim Maria Heslop continued her good form as she was an impressive 4th Lady and 1st W40 running for Paddock Wood.
Julian Rendall 14th, Adam Styles 79th, Andy Wood 137th were the Male vets representatives. Julian was 2nd scorer for the TAC team that was 2nd on the day.
Apparently the course was quite reasonable apart from a narrow section shortly after the start where runners were forced to stop and walk.
Fixtures for 2017
I have posted a provisional fixture list for next year, some of which are individual events and others team events. This can be found here on the Masters Home Page
Clearly the SCVAC vets league events are a target for this year, all athletes over 60 are going to be vital to our success this year, keep injury free and available!!
The National Road Relays are a very enjoyable event on the 20th May and it looks like we may well be more competitive in some of the age groups with some recent and recruits to the team. Winning the South of England M50 Road relays (slightly weakened event) proves that we can be competitive in some of the National and regional events. Having one runner who is placed in the top 3 times makes all the difference.
A number of us are planning to do the BMAF championships at Liverpool on the 18th March, let me know if you are interested.
