Masters Update - 15th November 2016
Sprints Introduction Session
Perfect weather was laid on and about 20 athletes took advantage of this opportunity.
Iain Presnell took the first part of the session during which he held some time trials over 30m, 60m and 100m He was very impressed by the performances especially as there was not much rest between each rep and the majority had not done much or any sprint training. He was showing me times and a common trend was quick over the shorter distances and fading over the 100m, which he expects at this stage before regular training.
Richard Christian, Dave Hull and Mark McAllister then demonstrated and talked through relay hand overs before everyone had a go. Hopefully we have established a “club” hand over technique so that anyone coming into the team will integrate seamlessly into the team.
Remember this session was not about how fast you are now, but a start to training so we can be competing to take part in the end of season finals!!!!!
I hope you all enjoyed it. Photos on the Facebook group
Iain confirmed that he would be happy to take on the vet groups and integrate it into his youngster sessions. This would mean that while the youngsters rest, the vets run and vice versa. The sessions are as follows:
Tuesdays 18:15 – 19:45
Thursdays 18:15 – 19:45
Sundays 11:00 – 13:00
These will all be at Tonbridge Track. Hopefully a core group will start to train regularly although I appreciate that the six weeks will be tricky for many. I will forward him an e-mail list of those that attended.
Non Members can have 3 trial sessions by registering here
TAC Membership runs from April (pro rata rate applies from January to March)
Kent Vets Cross Country Championships Dec 3rd Dartford Central Park
The following entries will be made on Thursday 17th November for the Kent Vets XC champs. Please let me know of any last minute changes required.
At present I am going to enter the Ladies as above as unfortunately I believe that Lucy and Cathy have to run in either W35 or W45 and cannot be team in one and individual in the other.
Details can be found here
Dartford have requested each club to provide 1 or 2 marshalls. Steve Brooks has offered to Marshall, if anyone else has children or other partners who would like to help marshall please let me know.
Southern Masters Cross Country Championship Sat 10th Dec
Closing date for entries is Friday 25th November. This is incorporated into the South of England inter-counties age group and Womens event. I will be running and hope to have a M50 team to enter. All age groups welcome, lift shares can be organised.

Ben Reynolds England M50 team
After recently returning from Perth Ben ran for England in the Masters home international in Glasgow, where he placed 2nd in the M50 race.
Kent League, Sparrows Den
Graeme Saker continued to dominate the Kent league M50 as he was clear winner again (3rd over 40) Andrew Mercer returned to league action and was 18 secs ahead of Graeme as 2nd M40. Although Adam Styles says he has been unable to train as he would like he still managed a creditable 59th with his best race of the season so far.
It was a learning experience for Antony Crush as he hung on after a fast start. Andy Wood on the other hand reveled in the hills and finished just ahead of Antony. Tobin Bird pushed harder than last week and on a day when most other runners were grumbling that they had finished lower than the week before he had moved up 20 places. James Winnifrith was just behind, but had not trained since Somerhill due to tendonitis around his ankle.
